How to Run an Apartment Listing Accuracy Review

Property management

Review the fields most likely to mislead a renter, then verify the actual public result.

Review by risk, not alphabetically

Start with the property identity, contact destination, availability, price, required fees, and lease conditions. A typo in a decorative heading matters less than an inquiry reaching the wrong community. Check that similarly named branches have not shared the same details by mistake.

Continue with floor-plan facts, amenities, parking, pet rules, and photos. Separate community-wide features from unit-specific ones. Mark each unresolved field for confirmation rather than rewriting it to sound certain.

Use evidence and a named reviewer

Compare the listing with current approved property information and retain a private record of the source and date. Ask the responsible contact when documents disagree. Do not treat repeated information across several old directories as independent verification.

The FTC cautions that objective rental claims about price, condition, terms, and services must not mislead. HUD guidance also warns against protected-class preferences in advertising. Review descriptive text for both factual accuracy and inappropriate audience assumptions.

Check the published surfaces

After a correction, inspect the listing card, detail page, mobile layout, filters, and inquiry route. Verify that a changed fee or amenity does not remain in a cached summary or promotional paragraph. If you cannot test a destination safely, record that limit instead of marking it verified.

Keep a change log with old value, new value, reason, and reviewer. Assign follow-up for facts likely to change and remove or qualify unsupported statements. An accuracy review is a repeatable editorial process, not a certification that every future rate or policy is fixed. Its success is a public page that matches the evidence and has a clear owner for the next correction.
